Woodworking for Women

This course allows women the chance to become familiar with the tools and process of woodworking in a supportive, relaxed, hands-on environment. All levels welcome, no prior experience necessary. Taking place in the Mill Hollow Works woodwork shop, students will learn the fundamentals of woodworking, with an emphasis on safety, under the guidance of professional Woodworker Annie Harris. Discussions will cover wood varieties, joining techniques, reading and interpreting building plans, materials, safe tool use and the overall woodworking process. Additionally, hands-on activities will enable students to become proficient in a variety of woodworking skills by working with hand tools to create a hand-held/tote box. This class will break for a half-hour lunch, so be sure to bring a bag lunch!
