Description

Build your woodworking skills through building an Adirondack Chair!  This project is perfect for beginners to learn basic woodworking skills, however helps the more experienced woodworker become more refined.  Using a variety of hand tools and hand-held power tools, students will build their own Adirondack Chair out of Eastern White Pine.

This Course comes with the option to camp at our wonderful partnering organization Frog Belly Farm (and home to Craft School Homesteading Instructors, Nicole and Jack Lamont! )

Only 2.3 miles from the Craft School, and a six minute drive (4 miles) from Central Square in downtown Keene and all its charming shops, Frog Belly Farm camping option includes a family-style farm dinner, evening bonfire, and a wholesome breakfast before classes. The site includes access to indoor toilet/shower facilities and each camper will have a soft spot on the lawn to pitch a tent (unfortunately, no motorized campers). The evening will include a bonfire with circle experience designed to create a space to share experiences of the day and connect a bit before the next class.

Meals will be created with local ingredients, grown and sourced from Frog Belly Farm.  Breakfast will include baked goods, veggie frittata (with the Farm’s own eggs), tea and/or coffee.

In the event the weather is miserable, campers will be welcome inside to the Frog Belly ‘s cozy den, light a fire, put on a record and sip tea ’til bedtime.

This class is being taught by Derek Skapars, a master craftsman with a degree from North Bennet Street School and a BA from Arizona State University. With over 8 years of teaching experience, Derek brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for woodworking that’s both inspiring and infectious.
