Monthly Membership to our Greenhouse for Spring 2024 includes 30 sq ft of growing space on landscape table, access to soil, starter trays and tools. Shares are $30 dollars a month for a single share (30 sq ft), $60 for a double share (60 sq ft). This for 5 months. Subscriptions to Fall & Winter will be offered at a later date (price increase will reflect additional fuel and supplemental heating costs).
The next step to activating your Greenhouse membership will be to attend our next Orientation meeting. The orientation meeting will include our bio-security measures (pest & disease management) general Dos and Don’ts, and a brief “Growing in aGreenhouse101″workshop. The orientation meeting is required regardless of how much growing experience you have just so all members are clear on expectations and on our particular approach to keeping our eco-system healthy and pest free. The meeting runs about an hour. We will contact you once the dates are set for the 2024 growing season.
Once you have attended the Orientation Meeting you are free to start using the Greenhouse, including after the orientation. We will have soil available, some seedling trays, and tools available for your use. You will need to bring your own seeds – and we strongly encourage members to share seeds. In fact, we will be setting up a seed sharing cabinet/area for that purpose. If you plan on using your own tools, PLEASE WASH WITH BLEACH before bringing them into the community greenhouse. Protocol for common tools will be covered in the orientation.
Tables will be chosen according to the order of Buy-ins purchased (first person to purchase their buy-in selects their table first, etc.). We are keeping a chart of who’s using what table. One share equals ½ table, or 30 square feet of space. If you’d like to have a whole table (60 square feet) that would obviously be 2 shares and will be billed accordingly. You will only be required to purchase one buy-in regardless of how many shares you want on a monthly basis, however, if you want more than 2 monthly shares (more than one table) please connect with us one-on-one as there may be an additional charge for potting soil.
You can start your seeds directly in the greenhouse and that’s actually preferred. We will have soil, trays and tools for your use. While you are welcome to bring seeds started at home (in clean pots using sterile soil) to the greenhouse please do not bring any established or adult plants into the space – this is necessary to prevent disease and keep our common eco-system healthy and thriving. We will be purchasing starter soil from local provider Ideal Compost. If you choose to purchase your own soil it must be sterile, bagged and authorized for Organic Providers (this will be clearly marked on the bag). While we are not an organic provider, we want to support our organic farm producers who are using the facility.
