Learn to build a Drift Boat through this fast and furious course in Drift Boat Building. The goal, build it in two days, then float it. This course is intentionally designed to be a quick and dirty crash course in Boatbuilding, with the aim to get a boat in the water fast. No prior woodworking or Boatbuilding experience necessary but students should have a willingness to roll up their sleeves, jump in and make sawdust fly!!
Building a little boat doesn’t have to be a rarified thing, requiring kits or templates or exotic materials. Students will be building one Drift Boat from design to completion (except seats and paint) in a weekend. Students will be designing the shape based on a very brief crash course on hydrodynamics and naval architecture. They then will be constructing the boat out of materials available at a local hardware store. Everyone works as a team to build one boat (cause one boat in a weekend – design to construction to floating – is enough!).
