Womens’ Carpentry Weekend – Intro to Carpentry 2027

This Workshop provides women with an Introduction to Carpentry in a peer-supported, encouraging environment, allowing them to work Our Women’s Intro to Carpentry Weekend is an immersive, hands-on introduction to the essential tools and skills of carpentry, taught in a supportive women-only environment where students learn by doing—and where women genuinely cheer each other on. Saturday & Sunday 10-4pm. 

This is not a watch-and-learn workshop. You’ll be on the tools. And you’ll leave with your own set of sawhorses you built. 

Over the course of the weekend, you’ll work directly with a professional carpenter as you learn to safely and confidently use the tools that form the backbone of basic carpentry: the miter saw, circular saw, reciprocating saw/Sawzall, drills and drivers, speed square, measuring and layout tools, and more.

We move quickly. You’ll measure, mark, cut, fasten, make mistakes, solve problems, and try again. There’s no standing at the back of the room watching someone else work. Everyone gets their hands on the tools, and everyone gets pushed just far enough outside their comfort zone to discover what they’re capable of.

Just as important as the skills is the atmosphere. This class has become known for the extraordinary camaraderie that develops over the weekend—women helping women, sharing what they’ve learned, celebrating each other’s first cuts, and sometimes literally cheering when someone tackles the tool she was most nervous to use.

Mill Hollow Works has been teaching this workshop for years, and that experience shows. We’ve refined the class around what beginners actually need: plenty of tool time, practical instruction, a professional carpenter at your side, and a learning environment where questions are encouraged and nobody is expected to already know what they’re doing.
