Learn Woodworking through Project-based learning – and walk away with your own hand-made tool box that you built!

Students will be learning the fundamentals of woodworking in our Hurricane Road workshop with an emphasis on safety.  Discussions will cover wood varieties, joining techniques, reading and interpreting building plans, materials, safe tool use and the overall woodworking process.  Hands-on activities provides students a solid introduction to Woodworking, learning a variety of woodworking skills & tools including hand-cutting rabbet joints, cutting and shaping curves, working with hand saw, power saws and more. No prior experience necessary.

Students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must have the ability to work independently and manage dangerous equipment, as well as the ability to follow complex directions and safety measures.

Description

This open-to-all** course allows students the chance to become familiar with the tools and process of woodworking in a supportive, relaxed, hands-on environment.  All levels welcome, no prior experience necessary.

Students will have the opportunity to work with:

Hand-tools including western and Japanese hand saws, chisels, fastening tools

Power Tools including jigsaw, circular saw, radial arm saw, table saw and dado blades, band saw and drill press

This class will break for a half-hour lunch, so be sure to bring a bag lunch!

Takes place at 149 Hurricane Road, West Keene, NH, 10-5pm
